I recently listened to a program on radio and they were talking about a recent research about Turmeric.
Yes, the turmeric that we grew up with in india. We used it in our food, poojas and used in so many other ways.

The research reveals that Turmeric(Curcumin longa) has incredible qualities that help humans in a lot of ways. It has antioxidant qualities, anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic activity, support colon health, exert neuro-protective activity, help maintain a healthy cardiovascular system and can possibly enhance the cancer-fighting power.

According to a 2005 article in the Wall Street Journal, research activity into curcumin is exploding.

Here is a recent article about Turmeric: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20091028/sc_nm/us_cancer_curry

Researchers at the Cork Cancer Research Center in Ireland treated esophageal cancer cells with curcumin -- a chemical found in the spice turmeric, which gives curries a distinctive yellow color -- and found it started to kill cancer cells within 24 hours.

It's a proven fact now!!! Nice...
